Technique that improves and smoothens the texture of the skin is known for chemical peel. Generally by these Facial skin is mostly treated resulting in the improvement for scarring. Most probably, Chemical peels are meant for removal of the outermost layers of the skin. To perform this operation, injury to the skin can be controlled by inducing the chosen peel solution. Eventually the dead skin peels off resulting in wound healing processes and regeneration of new tissues begins where you can see this regenerated new skin is less wrinkled and usually smoother than the old skin. However professional from a dermatologist or plastic surgeons help is advised to seek by the people on a specific type of chemical peel before a procedure is performed because of the reason that some types of chemical peels are purchased and administered without a medical license

Types of chemical peels:

Alpha hydroxy acid peels:
Alpha hydroxy acids are found in sour milk and tomato juice in the naturally occurring carboxylic acids such as glycolic acid. This is the mildest of the peel formulas and produces light peels for treatment of fine wrinkles, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne. These are used serums or creams in lesser concentrations as part of a daily skin-care regimen to improve the skin's texture also mixed with facial washes.

Beta hydroxy acid peels:
Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid which is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory works well for acne. These acids reduce the spots and bumps associated with acne, controls sebum excretion and remove dead skin cells better than AHAs.

Jessner's peel:
Jessner peel is combined with 14% lactic acid, salicylic acid and resorcinol in an ethanol base. It breaks the intracellular bridges between keratinocytes. Due to the mild percentages with the acid combination it is very difficult to overpeel the skin and does not penetrate as deeply as other chemical peels.

Retinoic acid peel:
Retinoic acid is a retinoid. It is used to remove scars, wrinkles and pigmentation problems as it is deeper peel than the beta hydroxy acid peel, also performed on deeper penetration levels of skin with a Jessner.

Phenol-croton oil peel:
Croton oil which causes an intense caustic exfoliating reaction in the skin is an active ingredient in Phenol-croton oil peel.
